Happy Birthday Madi

When I was little my Grandma Marjean used to take each one of us birthday shopping every year for our birthday. I remember it being one of the BEST parts of my birthday and looked forward to it all year. I loved picking out my present but dinner and one-on-one time with Grandma was the best part! About 4 years ago I decided to start the same tradition with my nieces & nephews once they were old enough. We went to dinner Friday night with Madi & her family and then her and Mckenna spent the night. Saturday we decided to do a project rather than the usual shopping. We decided to make aprons and the girls picked out there own fabrics & trims. Since Madilyn has a VERY short attention span I ended up doing most of the work.
Mckenna did most of her own pinning, ironing and even quite a bit of her sewing. Chevy was about as much help as Madi :)

They turned out really cute! Madi's is super girly and Mckenna's is totally funky.
We had a great time but I am always happy to return the kids to there parents :) It was an exhausting day and as we drove home Marq & I both agreed once again that we may never be ready for pre-teen girls!

It's Too Cold!

I have the BEST Mother-in-Law ever! Kae let Marq & I borrow a couple pair of cross-country skis for the winter :) We took Chevy & Polly skiing up Millcreek Canyon a couple weeks ago and I swear it was 6 degrees! It was a very cold but clear, sunny day in the canyon. It was beautiful!

Near the top of the trail Chevy started limping a little and acting like her back paws were frozen. A few minutes later Polly started doing the same thing so we turned back just before getting to the top of the trail for the girls sake. As we started heading down Polly kept getting slower, I had to keep stopping and coaxing her to come. Luckily Marq was sweet enough to pick her up and ski and ski down with her.

Chevy has never been so excited to get in the car as she was that morning. As soon as Marq opened the door the girls both fought there way into the car. Chevy wouldn't even sit in the backseat, she climbed back into the trunk and wouldn't come out until we got home. I Guess we'll wait until it's in the double digits before we go skiing again.

"Green" pillows

I have now completed my first sewing project on my new sewing machine. I took an old turtle neck that no longer fit, cut the bottom section off and made it into a cute couch pillow! Not only is the turtle neck recycled but the stuffing came from an old floral pillow that Marq hated. I think it turned out pretty cute, very comfy and the best part is it's "Green"... but blue :)
