LABOR Day Weekend

We got all of the base cabinets ripped out late Thursday night and spent Friday doing lots of prepping and sanding.

Late Friday night we got our first coat of our new Asparagus paint on the walls! :)

Wallpaper SUCKS!

I don't know who invented wallpaper but they should be shot! We had to scrape off 3 layers of wallpaper! The top layer was fake plaster-looking wallpaper, the next was a lovely 1980's country blue pattern with an oh-so-adorable geese border, and at the very bottom a 1970's orangish flowery-pattern. YUCK!!!

THANK YOU GRANDMA!!! She save our lives by bringing over her steamer and was SUCH a trooper to help us scrape off the wallpaper! You are the BEST!

Kitchen Demo

Saturday morning (before Ikea opened) we began tearing down upper cabinets. Several hours later we finished tearing down the wall separating our kitchen & dining room. Things are starting to look different :) I LOVE all the natural light that comes in our dining room window and now it lights up our entire house in the morning! Now you can see from one end of the house to the other.

Shopping Day

Yesterday Marq & I spent 5 hours at Ikea purchasing our new kitchen! It was a very, very LONG 5 hours. Ikea's customer service leaves much to be desired but that's a whole other post. Anyway with lots of teamwork, planning and negotiating we have purchased the kitchen. The woman in pick-up told Marq it is the biggest kitchen order she has ever seen go out. As we were loading everything people were pointing & whispering. I'm sure thinking "that pour stupid young couple"! We are brave I will admit but it's gonna look SO good!

Yard Work

So my focus again this weekend was the house & yard. I cleaned the house on Saturday from top to bottom then started to weed... and weed... We can now see about 1/8 of our garden and we even found some chives hiding that we didn't know were there!

I also trimmed the hedge in front of the house and now you can see through our window! Chevy loves it because she climbs up on the back of the couch and watches the neighborhood all day, patiently waiting for us to come home from work and play.

Marq mowed our "lawn" for the first time too!

The Concrete

This blog is becoming more and more like a constant House Update but... that's our life now :) No more wild crazy parties... "we have to get up early and work on the house". The weird thing is that we love it!

This past weekend our focus was on the garage and yard. For some reason the entire front corner of our garage was a dirt floor. Marq poured a huge slab of concrete in the corner of the garage for his tool boxes and work area. We had lots left over so we cleared the area outside the side door into our garage and poured this little step. We are pretty proud of ourselves and think the cement turned out pretty good for our first attempt.

The Furminator

We found this new pet de-shedding tool through some friends and it is AMAZING! I could not believe how much hair it pulled off of Chev and this was her second brushing!

New Couch

Here is a pic of our new couch in the new house! Very exciting!!!

We've Moved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We moved into our new home on Tuesday! Nearly everything is in and now we are unpacking & getting settled. I'll get some pics up soon of our new nest :)

Special thanks to... Tahna (the best best friend ever!) she took a half-day off of work to come help us. Thanks to Nate who helped move the furniture and heavy items and a very special "Thank You" to Grandma who has put up with the 3 of us for 3 years now and Marq for much longer! We love you VERY much Grandma (and Pollyanna) and we would not be where we are now without all of your love & support. We appreciate you and love you! We'll miss you but remember... WE'RE NOT FAR!!!

Summer Fun

Last weekend part of the Ovard family took a trip to St. George. This is a rare event for my family. Since everyone has gotten married, had kids, and moved further and further away we don't hang out like we used to. Marq's parents were generous enough to let us stay in their beautiful home and we all had a great time. As you can see from the pics, the kids had lots of fun in the pool, the guys golfed, girls shopped and Nick & Brett led the kids in an entertaining performance of The Macarena.

I'm not really sure why or when it started but for some unknown reason my brothers feel the need to be half-naked WHENEVER possible! Both of them! As you can see from the pics they haven't grown out of it and they are now passing it on to the little Ovards. It's a mystery to us.
