NICU

After a long delivery the baby was breathing too fast to feed him so they took him upstairs to the nursery to check his oxygen level and blood sugar. It was decided that his blood sugar was too low and he needed an I.V. which had to be done in the NICU nursery. Not long after the birth I was moved upstairs to a room and the baby had to stay in the NICU. Marq and I were able to get a few hours of sleep before the nursery called and said that the baby was hungry and stable enough to eat now.

The baby had to spend the first 30 hours of his life in the NICU, stabilizing and then weaning off the I.V. but luckily Marq & I were able to visit him all we wanted, hold him and even feed him every few hours.

The NICU nurses were amazing! We were very grateful to have the biggest, healthiest baby in the nursery and we were very happy that his stay there was brief.
