Shoo Fly!!!

Last night the funniest/saddest thing happened at our house. We were laying on the couch watching TV before bed and there was a fly in our house. The fly was bugging Chevy, they normally annoy her. She snaps at them and she even caught one in her mouth one time, didn't quite know what to do with it once she got it. She started acting strange pacing around and going in and out of the dog door. She went into Marq's office and just sat in his chair in the dark for awhile.

When we went into our bedroom for the night she was laying on the bed waiting for us to brush our teeth and tuck her in when she realized that the fly had followed us into our room. It was buzzing around my the lamp on my nightstand. Chevy flipped! She started pacing around our bed and then jumped down and ran into the dark living room, tail between her legs. I picked her up and she was shaking. Marq trapped the fly in the bathroom and killed him where Chevy saw him laying dead on the bathroom floor. I put her back on our bed she jumped right down, ran out the dog door and sat on the back porch crying. She was so upset! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. It was REALLY sad but hilarious at the same time. I have NEVER seen her act like this! She ran to our back gate and when Marq opened it she darted all the way out to the street. She wanted away from this fly-infested house ASAP! (I was in a nightgown and Marq in his boxers mind you!)

We finally got her back into our bedroom and turned off all the lights. She sat on our bed between us in the dark and refused to lay down. She spent another 10 or 15 minutes jumping down into her bed, back onto our bed, sniffing around the bathroom where she saw the dead fly and out the dog door into the back yard before she finally calmed down. What a night!

Opa!

This weekend was the annual Greek Festival. I love going every year to eat, listen to the traditional music, eat, watch the dancers, eat and eat!!! I have been going to the festival nearly every year since I was about 14. My best friend growing up had family that was Greek Orthodox and I started going with her and my adopted family. It made me miss them!

Spanakopeta - is like a pastery version of spinach pie! I never liked it when I was younger but now I love it.

My FAVORITE... the Loukoumades!!! I wait ALL year for these babies. They are like donut holes drenched in honey & cinnamon. YUM!

This year I went with Marq, Tahna & John. We had a good time and everyone seemed to enjoy the food. I LOVE Greek Food! OPA!!!

LABOR Day Weekend-Day 3

Sunday morning Tahna came over for a couple of hours and helped me paint a few things and Grandma came to help assemble drawers. THANKS!!!

On Sunday we assembled a lot of the cabinets and drawers. It's starting to look like a kitchen again, luckily a completely different kitchen!

I think the Asparagus paing turned out REALLY cute!

LABOR Day Weekend-Day 2

On Saturday my dad came up and helped Marq with the plumbing. We were SO thankful so have him here, it saved us a lot of time, money and unwanted stress. They did send me to Home Depot for plumbing supplies which was a interesting but I made it back with most of the right stuff. THANKS DAD!!!
